TIM KLIPHUIS, JIMMY GRANT & STELLA HEATH
Experience the greatest hits of two iconic singers … from Harlem and Paris. From the Blues to French Musette, from Strange Fruit to La Foule. Renowned Bay Area singer Stella Heath joins forces with Dutch gypsy jazz violin icon Tim Kliphuis and rising US guitar star Jimmy Grant, to produce a music that is truly Transatlantic.
ABOUT THE MUSICIANS
STELLA HEATH grew up in the Bay Area listening to her mother’s eclectic music collection, from Edith Piaf to Tom Waits, from Buena Vista Social Club to BILLIE HOLIDAY. As a Shakespeare actress in New York City, she found a love for jazz studying with MARJORIE ELIOT in Harlem. Her tribute to Lady Day drew praise nationwide and turned her into a household name on the jazz scene: “Homage without mimicry.” Stella brings her own pianist and bass player, and will collaborate with Tim & Jimmy to create a concert that crosses from New York City to Paris.
Gypsy jazz violin legend TIM KLIPHUIS hails from Holland and has worked with all the gypsy greats in Europe. He brings the same Parisian joy to his playing as the great French master, jazz violinist STÉPHANE GRAPPELLI. Tim returns to the States to host another 2 nights of blistering music at the Throckmorton Theater!
American rising guitar star JIMMY GRANT is becoming a household name in the international gypsy jazz scene, with a career that spans the US and Europe. He has played with Paulus Schäfer, Ludovic Beier and DAVID GRISMAN and toured extensively with Velvet Caravan.
