ABOUT VITAMIN EM: A musical collective made up of Grammy®-nominated and award-winning musiciansfrom around the Bay Area, Vitamin Em celebrates jazz, funk, R&B, soul and fiddlemusic with enthusiasm. Founded in 2016 by violist Emily Onderdonk, Vitamin Em presents a broad and exciting range of improvisatory styles of music to audiences in the Bay Area and beyondThe band is serious about having fun, and its members, steeped in an abundance of musical traditions, bring a wealth of experience, creativity and fearless improvisation to each performance. Vitamin Em is about sharing with audiences a fun loving spontaneity and exhilaration for the groove.Vitamin Em has appeared around the Bay Area as featured artists with Mason Bates and Mercury Soul, Berkeley Symphony & Friends, Berkeley Chamber Performances, Epworth Community Concerts, Pacifica Performances, NPR Says YOU! and at the Piedmont Piano Company, Crowden Music Center’s Sundays @ 4, Throckmorton Theater, Pt. Richmond Jazz, The Back Room, Piedmont Center for the Arts. Members can also be found performing, recording or touring with artists Jon Batiste, The Who, Beyoncé, Santana, Bob Weir, Hot Club of San Francisco, Brothers Comatose, Wayne Shorter, the Klezmatics...or with the San Francisco Opera and Ballet orchestras, at SF Jazz, Skywalker Sound. Composers in their own right, Vitamin Emmers have contributed works to the SF Symphony, the SF Chamber Orchestra, San José Chamber Orchestra, Turtle Island Quartet, Cirque du Soleil, and many others. What stands out about all Vitamin Emmers is their strong drive to push the boundaries of their field, try new things, establish their own voices, and above all have fun doing it.

The quartet has premiered works for Bay Area composers including Dan Flanagan and Davide Verotta, and has collaborated with many guest artists, including pianist Mack McCray, Fabrizio Corona, clarinetist Bruce Foster, and a Bernese Mountain Dog, Placido Yuzoh on vocals.

Our 2025/2026 season of signature Noon Concerts shares talent from around the world. All concerts are offered to the public free of charge; donations encouraged. Donations help us continue to offer these high-caliber concerts and help offset the musician fees. Join us to celebrate the transcendent power of live music.

Curator

We have had the good fortune of having Beni Shinohara as our Noon Concerts Curator for the last 9 years. Beni is a highly respected and incredibly talented Bay Area musician. She has made our Noon Concerts one of the area’s sought-after engagements for many performers and we are thrilled to have her curating our Season once again.
