A Musical Journey to Uplift the Spirit and Excite the Senses
On Saturday evening, August 29th, vocalist Deborah Winters, pianist Ken Cook, bassist Sascha Jacobsen and percussionist Ian Dogole will unite to take their listeners on a musical journey that traverses distant lands and diverse styles. Percussion instruments from around the globe will collaborate with voice, keyboards and bass in ever-changing configurations that showcase each member as the leader. They will perform compositions by Nina Simone, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Hermeto Pascoal, a medley of tunes recorded by vocalist Lizz Wright and original compositions from the band.
“The Gathering” represents an assemblage of folks coming together to celebrate community and creativity in a welcoming venue that supports the arts and artists. This is the fifth in a series of shows featuring this ensemble at the Throckmorton Theatre.
