They came to the United States from Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a mixture of Latin rhythms, rock and rumba flamenca performing with Spanish guitars, cajun, bass and electric guitar and harmonizing vocals. Vivacious and infectious, the sound of Los Pinguos has claimed fans worldwide
The story began in 1999 when Adrián Buono & José Agote along with some other Argentine musicians formed a band to play in clubs, festivals and private parties throughout Buenos Aires. Their exciting, passionate live shows garnered a devoted fan base, inspiring the talented ensemble to pursue global attention.
So they packed their bags and headed north to California. Newly arrived to the City of Angels in early 2001, Los Pinguos began playing at local bars. Their popularity grew and they were invited to perform at the end-of-season party for the hit FOX show “Dharma & Greg” and started receiving invitation for other hollywood parties. Their music has been able to reach a wide and diverse audience.
Los Pinguos’ music has appeared in TV shows such as "The Shield", "The L Word", and is featured in the Antonio Banderas & Emma Thompson film "Imagining Argentina", “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and had two songs in the Katherine Heigl movie “The Ugly Truth”. The band also participated in the award-winning documentary on street musicians entitled “Playing For Change” where they met the latest additions to the band.
Jason Tamba on lead guitar, he brings his guitar skills and soulful vocals to the band. His intricate guitar melodies and heartfelt singing draw from a dicerse array of influences.
Mermans Mosengo, he brings a vibrant energy with his drumming and vocals. Mermans has traveled the World sharing with passion and conviction that music can make the world a better place, one song at a time.
