The Sound of Music is based on a true story that contains hateful speech, actions and iconography depicting Nazism and the Third Reich that is in no way supported, condoned or taken lightly by any board, staff or cast member of The Throckmorton Theatre. Rather than "cancelling" these historically accurate emblems of the era, leading to the potenetial that their very existence could come into question, we are showing the ugliness in order to affirm the lived experiences of those who endured this horrific time in history. We will neither dilute this family's story of survival, nor the identity of the oppressors.
