SPRING CLASSES ARE HERE!!! SPRING CLASS DESCRIPTIONS March 14 thru May 18, 2012 **NEW** Playgrounds (K and 1st Graders) Young imaginations will join together with instructor Sandra Rae Davies to create their own play! The class will focus on enhancing acting, dancing and singing skills. Students will also play fun improv games that will help us tap into our mind's creative playground. A performance of the students’ original play will be shared with family and friends at the end of the session. TIME: Fridays, 3:30pm-4:30pm (9 classes) DATES: 3/16, 3/23, 3/30, 4/6, 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11 and 5/18 CLASS FEE: $235 INSTRUCTOR: Sandra Rae Davies **NEW** Five, Six, Seven, EIGHT! An introduction to Broadway dance (2nd and 3rd Graders) Learn the joy of Broadway dance in this new musical theatre movement and dance class! Young performers are introduced to beginning techniques in different Broadway dance styles, such as jazz, ballet and modern. This class promotes imagination, body coordination, rhythmic awareness and FUN! There will be a sharing on the last class for family and friends to attend. TIME: Wednesdays, 5:00pm-6:00pm (9 classes) DATES: 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9 and 5/16 CLASS FEE: $235 INSTRUCTOR: Jordan Best **NEW** Acting Out Too! (4th and 5th Graders) Students will advance their acting skills through character work and scene study with veteran Bay Area Performer and educator Sandra Rae Davies. Sandra will guide students toward stronger choices and richer characters through work that is fun and relaxing. Emphasis will be placed on performing instinctively and spontaneously while projecting confidence. Families and friends will be invited to a sharing on the last day of class. (6th, 7th and 8th Graders) Through theatre exercises, improvisation, research and character work, we will begin to find a meaningful connection to Shakespeare' s characters and hone our ability to perform this exciting material. Our challenge will be to make his characters come to life for ourselves and for our audience! Be prepared to have fun working on acting technique, monologues and scenes! There will be a performance on the final class for families and friends. From rehearsals to performance, students will develop their skills as dancers, singers and actors in a creative and nurturing environment. Bay Area performer, Alexis Papedo and local pianist, Dan Savio, will lend their experience, expertise and a whole lot of fun to this class, which will culminate in a performance on the 142 Throckmorton stage! TIME: Wednesdays, 3:30pm-5:00pm (9 classes) DATES: 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9 and 5/16 CLASS FEE: $290 INSTRUCTORS:Alexis Papedo and Dan Savio **NEW** MYP Audition Workshop (For Performers, Ages 11 to 13) Don’t miss this opportunity to strengthen your skills for that next big audition. This class goes over everything you want to know in order to prepare for the high stress environment that auditions create: how to present yourself, prepare you music, make strong choices, take direction and what to do when something goes wrong. There will also be an in-depth discussion of headshot and resume preparation. Each student will learn how to pick two contrasting songs that show off his or her talents and type, then have an opportunity to present those songs for a panel of local professionals on the last day of the session for feedback!
