HISTOR.
Three years ago, Deborah Winters, Frank Martin, Sascha Jacobsen and Ian Dogole took the stage at the Throckmorton Theatre to break the silence that had enveloped us during the pandemic. What transpired that evening was transcendent for the musicians and audience alike and not soon to be forgotten. It was akin to coming out of an interminable hibernation to exult in the joy of communal creation and sharing. Unbeknownst to us at the time, the darkness of the pandemic would revisit us and once again severely restrict our ability to gather in public spaces. Fortunately, we have since emerged into a post-pandemic world and this ensemble of world-class musicians and members of the Throckmorton Theatre’s extended family will once again share their passion for music that is panoramic and not constrained by any geographic or genre-based barriers.
TONIGHT’S CONCERT.
Vocalist Deborah Winters, pianist Frank Martin, bassist Sascha Jacobsen and percussionist Ian Dogole will unite to take their listeners on a musical journey that traverses distant lands and diverse styles. Percussion instruments from around the globe will collaborate with voice, keyboards and double bass in ever-changing configurations that showcase each member as the leader. Pieces will be sourced from the innovators of the Jazz and pop/rock traditions, and from the intoxicating array of indigenous music cultures that span the globe. We invite you to join us for a concert from The Gathering, a musical experience that will be uplifting, virtuosic and truly memorable.
